July 29th, 2008 | Cancer Survivors Plaza Permalink | Comment (0) This Week: Museum District Nights The area between the two heavy weight museums in Houston, The Houston Museum of Natural Science and the Museum of Fine Arts, is a few blocks of lovely little plazas, gardens and fountains. One of the areas is the Cancer Survivors Park. Richard & Anne Bloch have sponsored parks all over the country to remind people to fight for their lives and that cancer does not mean an automatic death sentence. All the parks have similar elements such as sculptures and plaques which explain cancer and give inspiration. Aside from that each park has its own unique look. Houston's park has this carved stone work with a wrought iron dome and it is quite lovely. This is a popular location for portrait, engagement and wedding photographers. |
