Mission Control

This Week: Space Center Houston / NASA

One of the things that you can do at Space Center Houston is take a tram tour over to the Johnson Space Center. You can choose from three different tram tours (mission control, astronaut training, neutral buoyancy lab). This is the mission control room that controlled space flight from the early days of Gemini all the way to the Space Shuttle. When the new mission control was completed in 1998, JSC moved the old control stations back into this room to restore it to the way it looked during the Apollo moon landing. This is a registered historical landmark.

I'd just like to add that you have to climb 87 stairs to get to this room. I'm just saying.
