This Week: Old Sixth Ward
This month's Greater Houston Preservation Alliance tour focused on the Old Sixth Ward section of Houston. This ward was settled in the mid-19th century and just recently received preservation status from the Houston city council which will prevent demolitions of historic structures and require new construction to follow design guidelines. In a city that is so prone to tearing down everything old this is a step in the right direction.
