July 15th, 2006 | Lights Permalink | Comment (3) This isn't the greatest photo, but it is a significant one for me. While waiting for the traffic to clear out of the parking garage after The Lion King (fabulous!) I decided to ... what else.... take pictures! I had my Canon S45 and went from one side of the garage that faces the downtown skyline to the other that faces I-45. The reason this is significant for me is because I actually tried to learn something about photography while I was shooting this. Yes, I have a confession, I don't know a lot about the mechanics of photography. I think most of my photos are pure luck. They certainly aren't from technical skills because I have none. So I played with the aperture and shutter speeds and basically just experimented with the camera. So this isn't a terribly interesting shot, but it is a good memory for me. I'm not sure what I learned, but surely it has to be something (although it may have been lost in the move... lol). I can see why night shots and long exposures are so addicting. Maybe one day I'll figure it out. Until then feast your eyes on this one and this one. |
